As we work our way deeper into summer 2024 and the election draws closer, LPRI is ramping up our activities as we take our next, best shot at securing the 5% of the presidential vote we need to become a recognized political party.
That means we have a number of important dates coming up for anyone interested in helping us fight for 5% or in running for office.
Become a Libertarian Presidential Elector
Rhode Island allows up to 4 individuals to become presidential electors for an independent presidential candidate. To qualify, you must be a member of the LPRI and registered Rhode Island voter.
If you would like to enter for a chance to be selected as one of these 4 individuals to appear on the nomination petitions for Chase Oliver and be sent to DC if he were to win in RI, sign up by Monday, June 17. The winners will be chosen at our candidate and volunteer training on June 19.
Candidate and Volunteer Training
Are you interested in running for office in RI or volunteering for Chase Oliver’s campaign in RI? Join us on Wednesday, June 19 for a virtual candidate training session. In this session, we will cover:
- Declaring your Candidacy
- Collecting Ballot-Access Petitions
- Setting-up your Campaign Finance Accounts with the RI Board of Elections.
More details on when this virtual training will be held are coming soon.
Volunteers are desperately needed to help collect Ballot Access Petitions for Chase Oliver’s campaign. If you are willing to help collect signatures, notarize petitions, and/or deliver completed petitions to local town/city halls, please sign-up to volunteer.
LPRI Annual Convention
Mark your calendars for Sunday, August 11 for the annual RI state affiliate convention. Per the LPRI Bylaws, you must be an LPRI member in good standing for at least 30 days prior to the convention to be eligible to vote, receive the party’s endorsement to run for office, and propose changes to our bylaws. If your membership has lapsed or will expire prior to the convention, you must renew it by Thursday, July 11 to participate in the convention.
Non-LPRI members are welcome to attend the convention but will not be eligible to vote, seek the party’s endorsement, or propose bylaws changes.
We recently reduced our membership dues from $40 to $10. Click here to join the LPRI.
The convention will be held at the Shannon View Inn in Warwick. More details about the convention will be coming soon.
