BRISTOL, RHODE ISLAND (May 22, 2017) – With a common theme to boldly stay true to libertarian principles, the three guest speakers at the 2017 state convention of the Libertarian Party of Rhode Island (LPRI) delivered their individual messages with signature style. Speakers Larry Sharpe, member of the Libertarian National Committee (LNC) and 2016 Libertarian Party candidate for the United States vice presidential nomination; Arvin Vohra, LNC vice chair; and Matt Welch, editor at large of Reason magazine, shared inspiring and humorous perspectives and experiences.

At the May 20 convention, held at the Bristol County Elks Lodge #1860, LPRI Bylaws were reviewed and revised. Highlights of the changes include extending terms of officers from one to two years, and holding staggered election of officers to help preserve continuity of institutional leadership. The chair and secretary will be elected on odd numbered years, vice-chair and treasurer on even numbered years, and at-large member every year).

The following officers were elected or re-elected at the convention: Patrick Ford, chairman; Michael Rinaldi, vice-chairman; William Hunt, secretary; Elizabeth Richardson, treasurer; John Fennessy, member at-large.
